Funky, fun and oh-so-colorful, iconic Haight Ashbury still likes to show off its Summer of Love roots. But among the tourist shops peddling tie-dye shirts and other hippy-inspired gear, these days you’ll also find great coffeehouses, restaurants, boutiques and nightclubs frequented by locals. Hipsters and others looking for unique and affordable clothing love scouring the racks of the Haight’s many thrift stores. Residential streets in the area are lined with rambling Victorian duplexes and single-family homes. For outdoor recreation, walk to the grassy Panhandle or head to nearby Golden Gate Park. MUNI stops are also within easy access.
